We have mice in our tack room that we obviously want rid of but no matter what we do thay keep coming back.
There wasn't a problem until one of the newer liveries started to leave their feed bags etc lying about and just generally leaving it a mess.
Anyway we have sealed the room up blocked of any holes, put our feed into bins left poison down ( not my choice as though they are a nightmare don't like killing thing) it gets swept regular and it's now kept v. tidy, but yesterday my saddle was covered in little mouse droppings (it's kept on a rack on the wall). one of the other girls found droppings in her empty feed dish.
We are getting really fed up does anyone have anything else we can try.

Get a yard cat! LOL!

I think mice are a problem for alot of people, they can get food and nice warm bedding from the stables, you are doing the right thing keeping the yard tidy, make sure there are no bits of food left on the floor etc.

I don't really know what to suggest.
Just don't leave anything to tempt them and get a cat! That usually sorts it!

I agree. Your doing everything right, sweeping the floor and keeping it all tidy. But we do the same and still get some mice.
The only way to keep them away is to get a good cat that will actually catch them.

We have cats on the yard there are 3 Semi pets and 2 feral cats but they can't get in the tack room as it's kept closed. we did think about thisbut the cats just wee on the rugs etc. We are going to try one of those plug in thingy's to see if that will work.

Thats a good idea! Let us know if it works.
Check that its not going to upset the cats though!

The plug in didn't work it just moved them. What did work though was cat litter. We were told that if we put a small amount of used (yuck) cat litter in containers arond our tack room it would deter the mice. It sounds disgusting but it worked we haven't had any mice since.
