Does anyone else clip there horses through the winter?
We have never clipped any of ours as they've never done much work over the winter.
But this our first winter with our 7yr old mare, Shammy, and the girl who rides her is planning on keeping her going and riding a lot all through winter. Im starting to wish i had clipped her now as she has gone so hairy. Its unbeleivable, she looks like a wooly mammoth!
Is it too late to do it now? It would only be a bib or apron clip. She has been clipped before by her previous owner. She's a big, chunky Irish cob, she's turned out during the day but in at nite.
I just worry about her sweating a lot with that big hairy coat and getting bad sores if the girl doesnt brush her off properly or worse, she gets a chill coz she is sweaty and cold!
Wot do u think? Am i worrying over nothing?
